Independant Online Help Blows Away Turbine Confusion12 March 2009 A new website has been launched to help businesses and homeowners decide whether it would be suitable for them to install a wind turbine. The Carbon Trust’s new Wind Yield Estimation Tool aims to address the confusion surrounding the effectiveness of small-scale wind turbines. The new guide has been backed by the British Wind Energy Association. Alex Murphy, their small-systems manager, said: “If sited correctly, small wind systems can generate considerable amounts of clean, green energy, helping to reduce electricity bill and carbon emissions.” Peter Allen, chief executive officer at Iskra, a wind turbine manufacturer, believes the new tool will benefit their business as well as customers. King's College TREC Project goes full steam ahead01 February 2008 King’s College, Taunton, received some superb news at the beginning of the year: the school has received a grant from the Royal Society to assist in the development of a major environmental science project, an ongoing working exhibition on renewable energy and sustainable living, known as The Renewable Energy Cabin (TREC).
